If you enjoy keeping fish and appreciate the variety of body types, coloring, and behaviors, then you probably also enjoy a visually pleasing aquarium scene — a lovely aquascape. Aquatic plants are one of the nicest ways to decorate an aquarium. While nice plantless aquascapes are certainly possible with rocks and/or or driftwood or little ceramic castles or plastic burping clams (if that’s how your taste runs), simply seeing a lush, well-planned, nicely maintained aquatic garden is enough to convince many hobbyists to add plants.

Please don’t advise people to add peace lillies and philodendrons to their fish bowls. They are very toxic to fish. I have seen quite a few fish die within a matter of hours when these plants were added. SUBCHAPTER A. PROVISIONS APPLICABLE TO FRESHWATER AND SALTWATER FISHING AND AQUATIC PLANTS

The system designed by a group of New Jersey students is an aquaponic system, which combines fish and plants in the same environment. Image Credit: Atlantic County Institute of TechnologyWe are happy to offer advice on the suitability of various plants for your system and on which fish would be best suited to your particular environment, weather conditions... and tastes! These decisions can have a real effect on the success of your system. Listed below are various examples of the plants that are grown in aquaponics systems, as well as the fish that most people choose. This group of water plants grows beneath the surface of the water. The name "oxygenators" is also used for them because they release oxygen into the water during the day as a process of photosynthesis. The primary function of these plants is to remove excess nutrients from the pond, thereby reducing the growth of algae. They also provide spawning areas and protective cover for fish.A concern we must all address is the expansion of harmful plants, fish and other animals throughout our country. Representing one of our greatest natural resource challenges, stopping the spread of these species appears simplistic, but global economic linkages complicate the issue. A variety of commercial and governmental activities have accidentally introduced aquatic invasive species and various aquatic resource users and consumers unknowingly spread them to other waters. If these species become established, they can wreak environmental havoc, degrade aquatic resources and make waters unusable for recreation.Live aquarium plants are a worthwhile addition to the fish tank. In a well planted tank, the fish have better colors, live a more natural life, and appear more comfortable than in an unplanted tank. Though they need more care than plastic replicas, live plants can be kept with few problems as long as there is plenty of light and no plant-eating or plant-destroying fish.WASHINGTON, DC, December 4, 2008 (ENS) - The U.S. Supreme Court

dispute over what steps older power plants should take to limit water
use and minimize environmental harm.
