Unlike other freshwater fish, sharks do not react to other tank mates, instead; they react to the physical environment. This could take a few weeks or more, depending on the plants and decorations in the tank. Although they are quite active, it does take a new shark a substantially longer time to become comfortable in its new environment than most other fish, and a pet owner may not see their shark for quite a long time. Once a shark has become comfortable it will claim a territory and generally stay in this area. If the tank is small, the fish may try to claim the entire aquarium and become aggressive or, at the least, start fin nipping. If you are planning to keep a shark in a smaller aquarium (under 55 gallons) it should be kept with fast swimming fish and fish without long fins.

I want to add a canister filter to my 55-gallon freshwater aquarium. It is a community aquarium with a mixture of tetras, some , two green severums and other small tropical fish. I have heard that canister filters are pretty messy and might not be right for my freshwater aquarium. I already have a but want something stronger. Is there another filter that might work better than a canister and is easy to use?

Saltwater aquariums are a beautiful addition to any home; marine fish often have a beauty that freshwater fish often cannot replicate. Setting up a saltwater aquarium can be a difficult task that requires very careful preparation. A 55-gallon tank is one of the more popular sizes when it comes to aquariums, as it allows for a lot of swimming space and serves as an excellent display tank, and is readily available at most pet shops. Setting up a 55-gallon saltwater fish tank requires several materials and many steps, not to mention a lot of patience, so proceed knowing that it won't be easy, but the experience can be very rewarding. This is my now finished 55 gallon freshwater aquarium setup. If you watch my previous video, you will see that I had two goldfish. I decided to try something new, and am happy with the results.
The fish are as followed,
7 tiger barbs
7 neon tetras
6 Serpae tetras
1 rainbow shark
1 common pleco
Filter- 2 Tetra Whisper 60 giving me 660 GPH. This tank setup has been up for about 2 months now, and the fish are all happy and live very well together.
Feel free to provide comments on it. I plan on giving updates through out the time I have it, I'm very excited to see my Pleco grow to larger sizes.
