There are several types of kreisel tanks. In a true kreisel, a circular tank has a circular, submerged lid. are "U" or semicircle shaped, usually without a lid. are a "double gyre" kreisel design, where the tank length is at least twice the height. Using two downwelling inlets on both sides of the tank lets gravity create two gyres in the tank. A single downwelling inlet may be used in the middle as well. The top of a stretch kreisel may be open or closed with a lid. There may also be screens about midway down the sides of the tank, or at the top on the sides. It is possible to combine these designs; a circular shaped tank is used without a lid or cover, and the surface of the water acts as the continuation of circular flow. It is now possible to start a jellyfish aquarium at home as easily as a regular fish tank. Large Fish Tanks for Sale | Big Fish Tanks & Aquariums | Petco

There are other methods to control nitrates in aquariums besides water changes. For freshwater fish tanks, live aquarium plants will use up some of the nitrates. In saltwater fish tanks, live rock and deep sand beds can have areas where can breakdown nitrates into harmless nitrogen gas that escapes through the water surface of the aquarium.Much of the information available here is derived from my opinionsand based on over two decadesof raising tropical fish, maintaining my own tanks, helping friends toget their own aquaria started, extensive reading of literatureavailable regarding the aquarium hobby and industry, and, morerecently, running the fish department at Bozeman Pet Center. I havealso incorporated information based on feedback I have gotten fromothers who may have more experience with specific equipment andinformation based on some of the most frequently asked I get. An introductory article into the many types of aquarium lighting available for fish only, planted and reef tanks. What kind of lighting do you need in your freshwater fish tank?
There are three common types of saltwater aquarium setups. The Fish Only, the Fish Only with Live Rock (FOWLR) and a reef tank. I really just consider two of those as viable setups. The fish only set up is really kind of difficult in terms of biological control of the filter and (in my opinion) makes it harder to keep a saltwater tank without live rock. Live rock is awesome and will become the primary biological filter in your tank. FOWLR tanks are the way to go for someone new to the saltwater side of the hobby. Reef tanks require a little more precision and can be much more expensive to set up and stock because they require more equipment and more expensive livestock usually. The Waterscape Aquarium Exhibit held at the Misawa Design Institute features a series of small architectural and artsy fish tanks designed by Hakura Misawa.Whenever you enter a room with a fish tank, it always feels at home with such a decoration around.
