I got the shrimp tacos with mango salsa and my husband got the fish tacos. The mango salsa was amazing, the restaurant was clean, the menu was very affordable, and the staff was very friendly....On the northwest shore of Blue Dog Lake near Waubay, S.D., it is one of four fish hatcheries operated by the state, but it’s the only warm-water hatchery and is largely responsible for the state’s stocking efforts concerning walleye and yellow perch.It’s already been a busy spring for South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department fisheries workers as they’ve been collecting walleye and yellow perch eggs from various water bodies for incubation at Blue Dog Lake State Fish Hatchery.The label art for Black & Blue comes from portrait painter . David and his wife Sarah (also a painter, Sarah painted the still life for our label) are big Dogfish fans and live with their pug Weezie in Pennsylvania. David honed his craft in Florence, Italy, and at the University of Pennsylvania. David has had exhibits across the United States, but primarily works with portrait subjects on commissions in his studio.The exterior of the Blue Dog does not look exciting but the food and ambience inside is brilliant! If you are lucky enough to visit make sure that you sample the fantastic shrimp as they are NOT to be missed. The other fish on the...When we walked into Blue Dog I immediately had some misgivings because the place was packed!! I was afraid it would take forever to order and get our food, but I was totally wrong! Our waitress came up to our table immediately to greet us and get our drink order, she also explained what fish was available that evening and answered a couple of questions we had.
We all ordered fish of one sort or another and no one was disappointed at all. Everything was fresh, perfectly prepared and served hot. We didn't have to wait long at all.
The decor is very pleasant and perfect for a local restaurant on the water. The service was excellent and the prices reasonable for the quality of the food. Put all those things together and the Blue Dog deserves the excellent rating I gave them.
